David Guth is Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Centerstone, one of the nation’s largest behavioral healthcare providers. The non-profit organization, headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, serves nearly 180,000 individuals in communities in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee, and nationwide through its national provider network.
Guth has served in the capacity of chief executive for Centerstone since 1991. With over 40 years of behavioral healthcare experience, 33 in executive leadership, his experience and expertise comprise a vast number of areas, both business and clinical. He has presented extensively before national and international audiences on the adoption of information technology in the healthcare industry, the integration of behavioral and primary healthcare, and the importance of improving the field of behavioral health through research-driven protocols. His insights on these topics and others have been featured in numerous professional journals. Under his leadership, the organization has grown from $6M in revenues and 300 staff serving 2,000 individuals to revenues of $327M and 5,200 staff serving nearly 180,000 people each year through 1,250 partnership locations and 211 facilities. In addition, Centerstone contracts with over 700 specialty credentialed clinicians nationwide.
The National Council for Behavioral Health publishes Guth’s first book on mergers entitled, “Strategic Unions: A Marriage Guide to Healthy Not-for-Profit Mergers. He has provided merger presentations through both the National Council and state trade associations and has consulted extensively with not-for-profits exploring mergers and with both for-profits and not-for profits in the areas of managing growth and business development. He is currently working on his second book on non-profit mergers.
Under Guth’s guidance, in 2013 Centerstone announced a joint venture with Unity Physician Partners to improve patient care and enhance the quality of healthcare across the U.S., by creating an environment in which primary care and mental health providers operate within a collaborative and co-located clinical model. Unity Medical Clinics are embedded within select Centerstone facilities today offering coordinated, whole-health care.
He is the recipient of numerous recognitions including the National Council 2010 Visionary Leadership award, and is recognized as one of Health Care’s Power Leaders in the March 2013 Nashville Business Journal. As well, he recently received the 2016 Douglas Henry Award for Service to Children and Families at Risk from the University of Tennessee’s College of Social Work.
Guth received his BA in Mathematics from Vanderbilt University and his MSSW in Social Work Administration and Planning from the University of Tennessee.
As Chief Operating Officer for the Foundation, Ramona Rhodes provides strategic and operational planning and day-to-day guidance, ensuring the required infrastructures and supports are in place for achievement of annual philanthropic goals by the Foundation team. In her role for marketing, her work is focused in brand development, reputation management and referral marketing.
During Rhodes' 27-year tenure, the Centerstone organization has grown from a small, Nashville-based agency to a national multi-state, multi-tiered organizational enterprise serving over 150,000 individuals annually.
Under her leadership, the marketing team has received numerous recognitions.The 2002 Centerstone branding campaign was named a finalist by the Nashville Business Journal for the Center for Nonprofit Management’s Salute to Excellence Awards. Multiple advertising campaigns and publications have also received marketing and communication awards over the years, including several Telly and Addy® awards for creative excellence. Rhodes was also named a Health Care Hero in 2011 by the Nashville Business Journal.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn., and is a member of the American Marketing Association. She has been with Centerstone since 1989.
Nancy Low, as Foundation Administrator, manages daily operations of the Foundation. She serves as chief administrator of the donor database, facilitating enterprise-wide campaigns, policy development and monitoring, and works with various organizational teams in the development and finalization of annual plans and budgets. She has been with Centerstone since 2002 and in her current position since May 2015.
Low earned a BA in General Studies at Indiana University and a Certificate in Organizational Leadership & Supervision from Purdue. She is currently working towards her Masters of Management - Non-Profit at Lipscomb University.
Beth Rodriguez is the Director of Advancement for Centerstone Indiana, responsible for executing the strategic plan for all fundraising for Centerstone Indiana. Beginning her tenure at Centerstone in late 2011, Rodriguez developed and continues to grow Indiana’s first organized and comprehensive development program including the CARES employee giving program and internal distribution program which allows philanthropic revenue to be used directly by staff to immediate impact and improve the lives of the clients in our care. Sheh focuses on growing an annual and individual major giving effort along with managing a large portfolio of local, regional and national foundations to enhance and grow new and existing programs throughout the state. She also leverages the network of funder relationships to build social capital and valuable community relationships throughout the State’s footprint and beyond.
Rodriguez shares her extensive development and fundraising knowledge with new generations of nonprofit leaders through her work as Adjunct Faculty at Indiana University’s School of Public Health. She holds an MA in Philanthropic Studies from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University. She is an active Rotarian and, in her spare time, she loves being outside, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family.
Kathryn Sime is Director of Advancement for Centerstone Illinois. She has been with Centerstone since 2010 and is responsible for leading private philanthropic fundraising efforts for Centerstone Illinois and the Centerstone Foundation.
She is a graduate of Luther College (BA) with a bachelor’s degree in English and French and DePaul University Master’s degree in Management of Public Service. She also serves on the board of McLeod Summer Playhouse Theatre (Carbondale, Ill).
Jeney Slusser currently serves as the Director of Advancement for Centerstone Florida, maintaining particular focus on donor cultivation, special events, employee giving, grant writing and government relations. She has been with Centerstone for four years, first serving as Media Specialist for the organization.
Slusser received her degree from Middle Tennessee State University in Public Relations with a minor in Marketing and Organizational Communication. In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, running, travelling, trying new recipes, coaching her kids’ soccer teams (Violet and August), and occasionally binge watching Netflix.
